Mimi had a job in Japan and could’nt take holidays, so they started to play live via Skype: Mimi sung early in the morning out of her kitchen in Tokyo into her laptop, live transmitted to the live show Tim was playing somewhere in the world.

Since the first Skype show in October 2007 at Copy Festival in Zürich, Tim & Puma Mimi performed more than 30 Skype concerts in Zürich, Berlin, New York and Tokyo. And the attempt drew media attention. “This isn’t a scene from the future, but the current reality for geographically challenged band Tim & Puma Mimi”, wrotes London-Berlin based Freestyle Magazine. According to Swiss Sunday newspaper Sonntagszeitung, Tim & Puma Mimi is “[die] weltweit erste Skype-Band” (the world’s first Skype band). Time Out recommended that “[someone] should get The World is Flat author Thomas Friedman out to Karma tonight, since this show promises to be a great demonstration of his globe-unitiy thesis”.
